Dj History

Dj Kyle Egan began djing in his hometown of Eureka Springs at social gatherings and private parties in 1995. At this time Kyle organized local events and threw small house parties. His passion for the art of entertainment and event production grew, until he left his hometown of Eureka Springs Arkansas in 1997, in order to seek his Bachelors of Applied Science degree in Comprehensive Sound Arts.

Arriving in the San Francisco bay area, he was quickly swept up in the ever-present DJ and nightclub culture that exists there. Kyles' collection of music and equipment grew quickly, as did his excitement for this newfound artistic outlet. Kyle would spend countless hours and dollars in Dj record shops and at legendary nightspots like 1015 Folsom, Ruby Skye and The End Up. At these late night locations He was able to study and learn from some of the best Djs in the world.

Soon Kyle found others that shared his creative vision, and the group began organizing local poetry and dance performances. Here he was able to develop some of the skills he would later use in the wedding DJ industry, such as event coordination, and party planning. Tourets Without Regrets was a smashing success that combined slam poetry, stand up comedy and improv skits, a featured many up and coming artists in the new slam poetry genre.

His next step was to move forward as a professional mobile DJ by eventually getting some real paid gigs. At events held in discreet Oakland warehouses, and after hours clubs in San Francisco, Kyle worked hard to develop his reputation as he would spin records to crowds of 500 on an almost weekly basis. Playing for crowds of this size, taught him the basics of crowd control. During this time Kyle learned of a new recording school in Berkely California.

The year 2000 saw Kyle realize his dream of attending the worlds foremost school for multimedia training; Ex'pression College for Digital Arts would be his new home for the next two years. In these two years, Kyle would earn his Bachelors Degree in Comprehensive Sound Arts, while working with and learning from legendary professionals in the music and entertainment industry.

In classes ranging from Film and video production, Web Design, DVD authoring, Recording and Live Sound Reinforcement, he would have access to the worlds most advanced audio and lighting systems. With a grueling six day week consisting of four hours of class and six hours of hands on lab time, he was "fully immersed" in the world of professional audio engineering and multimedia production.

At Ex'pression Kyle was fortunate to work with artists such as: Victor Wooten, Phil Lesh, Warren Haynes, Bon Jovi, Moby, Stone Temple Pilots and many others, on projects ranging from web design, film and DVD authoring, to live sound, studio engineering, and system installation/acoustic application. Working with artists of this caliber taught Kyle the professionalism needed to succeed in such a fast paced industry and set him on his path toward success.

Three days before Kyles graduation the world changed for everyone - September 11 2001. Kyles plan after graduation would change as well, his trip to New York for an Audio Engineering convention was now out of the question. In a few days Kyle recieves the phone call which would lead him back down the path of a professional Dj. Now, instead of New York, Kyle would travel to Puerto Vallarta, and into the heart of Mexico for a tour of Dj bookings, leading up to the day of the dead where he would play for three thousand dancers.

Since recieving his Bachelors of Applied Science Degree in Comprehensive Sound Arts, Kyle has returned to his hometown to start his own mobile entertainment company. Eureka Springs is second in the nation for destination weddings, and since its inception in 2001, Sound Solutions has become the premier DJ company in the N.W. arkansas area, and has enabled Kyle to fully expand his skillset and inventory of professional equipment.

While living in Eureka Springs Kyle remains active in every aspect of his career as DJ/Engineer. In 2003 Kyle organized a full scale electronic music festival in Eureka Springs. ESEMF, would take place in seven venues throughout four days, and draw people from as far as Kansas city, St Louis, and Dallas. Featuring Dj's from San Francisco and New York, as well as the majority of the local Dj's the event was a huge success and will be remembered as the first event of it's kind in Eureka Springs.

While working on preparations for ESEMF, Kyle was introduced to the Art Director for a film starring Billy Bob Thornton to be shot in Eureka Springs. The directors were impressed with his resume and Kyle landed a job on the production team for the movie Chrystal. Of course Kyle was the natural choice when it was time for the wrap party and for the first time Kyle would spin records for celebrities.

Most recently, Kyle has placed the majority of his focus on creating once in a lifetime events for Brides and Grooms getting married in Eureka Springs Arkansas. "My main goal for a reception is, through extensive pre-planning, to achieve a level of elegance and excitement that creates a smooth flow of events and allows the Bride and Groom the chance to simply have fun and enjoy the evening". This translates to a professional, well-organized show for all in attendance.

Sound Solutions has firmly established itself as the premier provider of Dj services in the greater northwest Arkansas corridor, and in so doing has inspired a new generation of Dj's to take to the stage. After witnessing the great effect I had on crowds at the Crescent Hotel at my wedding receptions, in 2006, Brian Foster and Mikey Hodgson began booking gigs as All Around Sounds. Mikey was seen many times this past 2009 summer at my events soaking up more wedding experience working as a bartender for the Crescent Hotel.
